Council calling on audit professionals

Noosa Council is seeking two experienced members of the Noosa community to serve on its Audit Committee, to provide independent advice and assurance to council on audit and risk management issues covering all council's operations and projects.

Council CEO Brett de Chastel said that the two independent members will join the Mayor and one Councillor to form the Audit Committee.

"The committee will be fully supported by council's CEO and staff, and will meet about four times a year.  Members will be reimbursed for their time," Mr de Chastel said.

"These roles will suit someone with financial experience in business, a strong commercial awareness, legal or accounting qualifications and a strong understanding of auditing."

The Audit Committee is an advisory committee of council established in accordance with the Local Government Act 2009.

The appointment will be for two years, concluding when council elections are next held in 2016.

Expressions of interest close at midday Monday 16 June.
