Two New Exhibitions at the Butter Factory Arts Centre

Back

One Heart One People One Mob is a visual narrative by local artist Jandamarra Cadd opening at the Noosa Council's Butter Factory Arts Centre on Wednesday 14 May.  Jandamarra invites the viewer to explore the depths of the human heart through images of unity, compassion and ceremony. His collection of current and never before seen new works uses the power of portraiture to reinforce the importance of walking together as One People.

Jandamarra is an Aboriginal artist and art teacher, with his origins being the Yorta Yorta People in Victoria. With an art career spanning 26 years, he began visually documenting stories from his tribal area and over time, has evolved to become primarily a portrait artist. He uses a variety of styles and mediums, favouring oil on canvas.

Members of the community are welcome to attend the official launch of the One Heart One People One Mob exhibition at the Butter Factory Arts Centre, Cooroy, on Friday 16 May at 6pm where Jandamarra will unveil his entry in the 2014 Archibald Prize.  Special guest speaker Fiona Ball will officially open the show. All welcome. RSVP gallery@noosa.qld.gov.au or phone: 5329 6580.

The third exhibition of Noosa District State High School's talented graduating senior visual art students will be hosted by the Butter Factory Arts Centre titled Collections from 21 May to 5 July 2014.

The art students have just completed a body of work exploring the concept Collections. Students were asked to respond to the idea of collections, and how collections by their very nature constitute a plethora or abundance. Collections are often very personal, and provide insight to the viewer about the collector.

This exhibition is the students' personal response to ‘Plethora', and the diversity within the student responses highlights their individuality.

Both exhibitions One Heart One People One Mob and Collections continue until Saturday 5 July. The community is invited to attend the following events programmed throughout the duration of the exhibitions:
