Council monitors situation as rain eases

Noosa Local Disaster Management Group continues to monitor the situation but advises that the majority of rain appears to have passed now, and that there are no severe weather warnings current for the Noosa region.

There is no major damage to report at this point in time, and field staff will assess the situation throughout the day. Council received several calls over night and this morning which have been responded to.

There are still some roads closed in the region, so we are advising motorists to drive with caution.

Current road closures include:         

An   Andersons Road, Federal

-            Skyring Creek Road, Federal  

-           Grahams Road, Pomona

-           Ringtail Creek Road, Pomona  

-           Louis Bazzo Drive, Pomona

-          Sankey's Road, Pomona

-          Railway Road, Cooran

-         Tablelands Road, Cooran

-          Kinmond Creek Road, Cootharaba

-          Dr Pages Road, Kin Kin

-          Pender Creek Road, Kin Kin 

Over the last 48 hours the heaviest rain falls in the Noosa region were in Black Mountain where they received 246 mm. Mount Tinbeerwah received 186 mm, and Noosa River catchment on the coast at Boreen Point received 167 mm. The positive news is Lake MacDonald dam is filling nicely after it received 203 mm, and is now approximately .4 m below the spillway.   

Emergency Services Queensland is reminding home owners to check or recheck drains and gutters for debris after the rain.

In life threatening situations call Triple Zero (000) and for emergency assistance from SES call 132 500.

Motorists are reminded when entering flooded areas to avoid flooded roads.  Do not cross a flooded road.
