Community group to drive Cooroy RV Stopover
New RV Stopover management arrangements will put the Cooroy community in the driver’s seat.
The changes will provide a business opportunity for the successful community group and spare ratepayers the cost of running the facility.
Council will call for expressions of interest to find a Cooroy community group to run the site under a Freehold Permit.
The operator will pay only a token lease.
“Council originally intended for the facility to be community run when it was established in 2015. The previous management agreement has ended and Council is now pleased to provide the opportunity to a local group,” says Mayor Tony Wellington.
“The previous management model had seen a commercial operator manage the site, which proved that it could operate at a profit. Now we want any profits to flow back into the local community. The new community-led management model gives greater flexibility and opens new opportunities for the RV Stopover. This is a real win-win solution.”
The EOI opens to not-for-profit community groups based in the Cooroy area from today (Monday, April 23). See Council's website for full details.
Interim management arrangements will continue in the meantime.
