Council's free garden mulch a great way to prep gardens for winter

Back

Get your gardens ready for winter with free mulch from Council.

Council supplies single-grind garden mulch to residents at no cost from the Eumundi-Noosa Road landfill and Resource Recovery Centre, and the Cooroy and Pomona Waste Transfer Stations.

“But, for a limited time we’re offering double-grind mulch – usually $20 per cubic metre – for the reduced price of $5 per cubic metre,” says Council’s Waste Coordinator, Ian Florence.

“Mulch helps prevent garden beds from drying out, it maintains a constant soil temperature and reduces the need for watering,” he said.

“It’s also a great way to add extra organic matter to the soil to help plants thrive.”

The double-grind mulch is available from Council’s Eumundi-Noosa Road Resource Recovery Centre.

The free, single-grind mulch is available from the Eumundi-Road Resource and Recovery Centre, plus the Cooroy and Pomona Waste Transfer stations.

Residents can self-load the mulch at the Waste Transfer Stations, or staff will load both the single and double-grind mulch at the Eumundi-Noosa Road landfill and Resource Recovery Centre.

The double-grind mulch discount ends April 30.

The Cooroy Waste Transfer Station is open 8am-1pm Saturday to Monday; the Eumundi-Noosa Road landfill and Resource Recovery Centre is open 7am-5pm each day, while the Pomona Waste Transfer Station is open Friday to Sunday, 8am to 1pm.
