Draw your way to a $1500 prize
Noosa Regional Gallery is calling for entries in its first-ever high school drawing competition, with a first prize of $1500 cash up for grabs.
Draw! is free to enter and it’s open to high school students from Years 10, 11 and 12, living in Noosa, the Sunshine Coast and Gympie local government areas.
Gallery Director Michael Brennan says Draw! aims to promote drawing as a fundamental step for any arts practice.
“The Gallery is offering free art classes with local contemporary artists who’ll teach participants skills they can use to develop a piece to enter in the competition,” he says.
The classes are also open to students not wishing to enter the competition.
“The Gallery is thrilled to offer these workshops – they are a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with artists and enhance their drawing skills,” says Brooke Bowtell, the Gallery’s Education and Public Programs Officer.
“Art teachers from local schools have responded enthusiastically and we are pleased to have their support.”
In addition to $1500 cash, the first prize includes five private lessons with an established local artist.
Second prize is $1000 and two private art lessons, with $500 cash and a $150 art pack for third place.
The People’s Choice award winner will receive $250 and a $100 art pack.
For the full Draw! terms and conditions, see the Gallery's website.
Entries for Draw! Close on Friday 31 August 2018.
