Australian Food Safety Week – Council’s free Food Handling Training is back
Do you know what your chances of getting food poisoning in Australia are?
As part of Australian Food Safety Week November 13-17, Council’s Environmental Health team has announced the reintroduction of the free, Food Handler Training sessions commencing on December 11 in Council Chambers, Tewantin.
The two-hour sessions will be held every two months between 10am and 12 noon catering for people who currently work in, or who want to work in, the hospitality or food production industries in Noosa Shire.
The sessions are geared towards encouraging a food safety culture by building knowledge of safe food handling practices and increasing the understanding of responsibilities associated with handling food.
Businesses must ensure the people who handle food, and their supervisors, have the appropriate skills and knowledge under the Australia and New Zealand food safety standards.
The chance of getting food poisoning in Australia, by the way, is once in five years.
To book into a free Food Handler Training session call 5329 6500 or email environment@noosa.qld.gov.au .
