Street Press on the agenda for Gallery's second NRGnite
The second night of the Noosa Regional Gallery’s four-part music industry series returns this Friday at 5pm with guest speaker Sean Sennett’s insight into all things ‘Street Press’.
Inspired by the Gallery’s current Midnight Oil exhibition, the nrgNITES series offers an insider’s view of industry subcultures surrounding Australian music, past, present and future.
The Gallery invites musicians, writers, promoters and anyone interested in furthering their creative practice to attend the two-hour session, with cash bar available and casual atmosphere.
Sean Sennett is a Brisbane based musician, music writer and commentator. For over two and half decades Sean has interviewed over 1000 artists from unsigned bands to the likes of Paul McCartney, David Bowie and Bono.
For many years Sean was the editor and publisher of Time Off Magazine. His work has appeared in Rolling Stone (here and overseas), the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Australian and the Courier Mail.
Sean has written songs with the likes of Ross Wilson, Steve Kilbey, Stephen Cummings and Kate Ceberano. In 2015 Sean and Rob Hirst released their garage rock album, Crashing the Same Car Twice.
Noosa Regional Gallery Director, Nina Shadforth, said “revisiting the culture of Street Press may inspire some fresh ideas for musicians, promoters, venues and the like on the coast.”
“You never know where connections made at events like this may lead and it’s always inspiring to watch on as ideas evolve from one thing to another,” Ms Shadforth said.
nrgNITES is a four-part series, hosting various special guests who are professionals in their chosen creative field. Topics to come include ‘Activism’ and ‘Rock Video’. Pop-up bar and snacks available until 7pm, plus a chance to win an autographed Midnight Oil prize. Bookings are recommended on (07) 5329 6145.
“Following on from nrgNITES, head over to The V Room to see Rob Hirst perform with his band The Backsliders, from 8pm. Tickets are available through Moshtix or at the door.”
On Saturday 8 October, places are still available for a conversation with Rob Hirst on Songwriting, with tickets $30 per person, bookings and pre-payment essential, phone 5329 6145.
