Splash park reopens in time for summer
Tewantin’s new-look splash park has reopened in time for summer
“The new-look facility is a vast improvement on the old splash park, which was showing its age,” says Council Technical Officer Martin Sergas.
The upgrade provides improved drainage with non-slip grates, chlorine resistant polysoft surfacing and a stainless steel double arched water spray in the centre of the park.
Council closed the facility, adjacent to the boat ramp at the end of Doonella Street, several months ago to address emerging safety concerns and maintenance issues.
Mr Sergas says work to upgrade the facility went smoothly, with only slight delays due to wet weather.
“Council appreciates residents’ patience while the park has been closed and we’re confident the new facility will provide local children with many hours of enjoyment,” he said.
