Waterway photo competition winners named
Four keen photographers' love of Noosa’s waterways has earned them a prize!
Winners have been named in Noosa Council and Unitywater’s Creek Week photography competition, with a new online video launched today to showcase the entries.
“We received more than 50 photographs of people having fun on our picturesque waterways,” says Noosa Council Environment Officer Jan Maddin.
The winners, drawn at random, were:
- Helen from Noosaville for a silhouette shot of her son enjoying a Noosa River sunset.
- Bernard from Tewantin for his picture titled ‘the Everglades’.
- John for his picture of son Danny fishing at Noosa Sound.
- Trish, for her shot ‘we lost Hannah’ depicting a great dive from a boat.
The competition, held during the Healthy Waterways Connect to Your Creek Week, invited pictures of people enjoying Noosa’s waterways.
Unitywater spokeswoman Kate Cash said the competition was a reminder that healthy waterways are vital for healthy communities.
An online video compilation of the entries is on Council’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/noosacouncil and Council’s YouTube page at www.youtube.com/NoosaCouncilTV
“This unique video creatively captures the many ways we support and interact with our waterways, and it’s been a pleasure to watch it come to life with contributions from residents,” Ms Cash said.
Connect to Your Creek Week aims to increase community stewardship of our waterway health and encourage South East Queenslanders to show how much they value their local waterways.
Ms Maddin said winners would enjoy prizes donated by Kanu Kapers, O Boats, Pelican Boat Hire, and Noosa Integrated Catchment Association.
They include a half day self-guided tour of the Noosa River Everglades, a half day on a BBQ pontoon for six people, an Oceanrider Extreme Adventure family pass and a wine bag and bottle of champagne.
