Noosa Civic expansion plans lodged with Council

Noosa Council has received a major development application for the expansion of Noosa Civic shopping centre.

Noosa Council Planning and Environment Manager Kerri Coyle said the proposal comprised approximately 30,000sqm of additional and reconfigured retail floor space linked to the southeast of the existing centre.

The proposed expansion includes two supermarkets and a discount department store and 1000 additional car parking spaces.

“The application was properly made this month following the payment of all application fees,” Ms Coyle said.

“Council officers are currently reviewing the application and are likely to make a further information request to the applicant.”

The applicant has six months to respond to an information request.

“Once the applicant responds to Council’s request for further information, the application will be publicly notified, so the community can provide comment,” Ms Coyle said.

“The application will then go before Council for a decision, which is likely to be later in the year.”
