Policelink just the ticket for speeding complaints
Complaints about speeding on local roads should be directed to police via the Policelink hotline.
“Police have advised that as speeding is primarily a police responsibility, Council should ask anyone who phones in with a complaint about speeding to contact Policelink on 131 444,” says Noosa Council Design Services Manager Ross Sanderson.
It’s helpful to police if the person making the complaint can supply the make, model and registration number of any vehicle involved.
Mr Sanderson said policing was often the most appropriate response.
“If police feel there is a need to review the speed limit for a particular location, they will escalate the matter through the Traffic Advisory and Speed Management Committee and request that Council investigate further,” Mr Sanderson said.
The Committee includes police officers, Main Roads staff and other traffic experts who are best placed to advise whether there is a case for speed limit changes or some other form of intervention in a particular area.
Residents can contact Policelink on 131 444.
