Council rolls out the welcome turf for Sydney Giants
Noosa Council and AFL Queensland have teamed up to assist Noosa Tigers AFL Club revamp its oval.
The timely upgrade will be well–received by the Greater Western Sydney Giants, in town later this month for pre-season training camp.
“Facility development of club grounds has the dual benefit of not only giving local players better facilities but it goes a long way in attracting clubs from Australia’s biggest sport to the region,” AFL Queensland Regional Manager, Paul Tresise said.
“This shows how partnerships between clubs and Council can get outstanding results on the ground for community footy.”
Council assisted the Noosa Tigers AFL Football Club with the remediation of the Weyba Road oval and it will also install new PILA goal posts, donated by AFLQ.
Cr Joe Jurisevic said Council was thrilled to welcome the Giants to Noosa for their pre-season training camp.
“In order to help the team achieve peak performance as they head into the new season we’re pleased to offer them a top quality oval,” he said
Giants players will be in Noosa for a week, training from December 15th – 19th. Local AFL fans will have the chance to meet Giants players at an open training session for the community from 8.00am -11.00am, 17 December at the Weyba Road oval. Players will be available for photos and autographs straight after the training session from 11:00am to 12:00 noon.
