Sun safety urged as Spray Park reopens
The Tewantin Spray Park is set to re-open as early as next week.
But residents and visitors are advised to take precautions in the sun while Council replaces the shade structure.
Council closed the park last week after a shade structure support post failed.
“In light of that safety concern we assessed the structural integrity of the remaining support posts and decided on the strength of that to remove and replace the entire structure,” Noosa Council Property and Facilities Manager Clint Irwin said.
“This will take around two months, during which time the park will be without shade.
“As the park is popular with residents we have decided to reopen it once the old shade structure is removed.
“We will replace the shade structure as quickly as possible. In the meantime Council is encouraging anyone using the facility to take steps to beat the heat by applying sunscreen, wearing suitable clothing and drinking plenty of water,” Mr Irwin said.
“Council apologises for any inconvenience.”
