Tewantin Spray Park closed for repairs
The Tewantin Spray Park will remain temporarily closed as Council carries out a safety assessment on the facility’s shade structure.
Noosa Council Corporate Services Director, Michael Shave said Council made the decision to close the park while engineers assess the structural integrity of the structure.
“It follows a safety concern with one of the steel support posts that failed last Friday,” Mr Shave said.
“Council removed the sail on Friday and we’re currently assessing the integrity of the entire support post structure. If the posts require replacement the park will need to remain closed while that work is undertaken.
“If no concerns are identified with the other support posts Council will re-open the park, but residents are advised to take extra sun safety precautions as the park will be without a shade covering whilst repairs are being carried out.
“We are working to ensure the spray park is safe and re-opened to the public as a matter of priority. Council apologises for any inconvenience.”
