Noosa Council presents $14,000 in RADF grants
Two local arts projects will share in more than $14,000 worth of funding in the latest round of the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
The Weave Heal Connected program and the Inclusive Community Theatre Show will receive grants in this round of funding, made possible through a partnership with the state government through Arts Queensland.
Weave Heal Connected, delivered by artist Rene Bahloo in partnership with Noosa District Landcare, is a community weaving project using local plant species.
Community artist Florence Teillet will work with other arts practitioners and community organisations that service people with disabilities to develop and perform a multi arts performance – the Inclusive Community Theatre Show.
Noosa’s RADF committee chair Cr Frank Wilkie said committee members were confident the two projects would deliver quality art and build cultural capacity within the community.
“While we can’t allocate funds to every applicant, we encourage those who did not succeed this time to gain advice from the RADF Liaison Officer and continue to apply in further funding rounds,” Cr Wilkie said.
"I congratulate all applicants on their dedication to increasing artistic and cultural opportunities."
The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Queensland local councils.
“We believe funding councils and working closely with them to support grass-roots arts is an essential part of delivering the arts to all Queenslanders,” Arts Minister Ian Walker said.
“We want to get the best result from every dollar spent, so we’re taking a special look at projects that may increase returns on this cultural investment.
“A vibrant arts community, from the biggest city to the smallest town, can attract money and tourists so both business and the arts can be winners from these grants,” he said.
