Community groups share in Council grant funds
Noosa Council has signed off on more than $115,000 worth of community grants funds to be shared between more than 20 community projects.
Funds will be distributed to assist social, arts, cultural, environmental, sports and festive projects across Noosa Shire, to commence in January.
Noosa Mayor Noel Playford said the grants program drew almost 40 applications.
“Council established the community grants program to help support the work of enthusiastic community groups and their volunteers,” he said.
“While Council can’t fund all of the applications in each funding round, more than half of the applications in this round have received funding and they cover worthwhile initiatives from the bush to the coast.”
Projects were assessed on criteria such as their contribution to the community’s quality of life, contribution to the understanding of local heritage, and sports, recreation and cultural participation.
