Drivers reminded to steer clear of criterium track
Motorists are reminded the Girraween Sports Complex criterium cycling track is off limits to vehicles.
It follows reports of motorists driving on the track.
Incidents have been reported to police.
The criterium track is popular with cyclists as well as school groups, and vehicles on the track are a serious safety risk, a Council spokesperson said.
Council is asking individuals and groups that use the facility, or see vehicles entering, to report trespassing vehicles to police.
"Motorists who drive on the track are not just risking the safety of other people, but breaking the law."
Council has replaced a damaged bollard used to close the access track to unauthorised vehicles. However a number of vehicles are finding their way on to the track.
"The facility was built with access provisions for emergency vehicles, but private vehicles are not permitted on the track," the spokesperson said.
