Project Eliza writers presentation and rehearsed reading of Figments of Eliza

Back

Project Eliza features creative writing generated by local writers in response to Judith Laws' Beauty & Tragedy on Fraser Shores exhibition.  Writers include Gail Forrer, Catherine Gamble, Irene Waters, Roger Waters, Lorraine Bird and Noel Bird.

This work will be presented along with a rehearsed reading of Figments of Eliza, featuring Sunshine Coast performer, Mary Eggleston.  Figments of Eliza was written by Dr Sue Davis (CQUniversity) and explores the experiences of Eliza Fraser and the survivors of the Stirling Castle who landed on what became known as Fraser Island (K'Gari) following a shipwreck in 1836.  The script revisits this intriguing tale taking a fresh look at events from the perspective of the central female figure, Eliza Fraser.

Members of the community are invited to attend the free performance. Refreshments available via gold coin donation. RSVP 25 September to: gallery@noosa.qld.gov.au.

The Butter Factory Arts Centre is located at 10 Maple St, Cooroy and is open free to the public from Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturday 10am to noon. For further information about exhibitions, events and bookings, contact the gallery on 07 5329 6580 or email gallery@noosa.qld.gov.au.
