Noosa Libraries mark RUOK Day and World Mental Health Day in September/October
Noosa Libraries Service will be hosting beyondblue speaker Kev Stevenson for RUOK Day (11 September) and World Mental Health Day (10 October) this year.
RUOK Day is a national day of action on 11 September that encourages people to ask the simple question ‘are you ok?' to those who could be struggling with life, in an effort to curb isolation.
World Mental Health Day, on 10 October, is part of an initiative that aims to help the one in five Australians who will experience a mental illness this year.
Join celebrities such as Josh Earl, Adam Richard and Felicity Ward in making your own mental health promise on the Promise Wall on the World Mental Health Day website (1010.org.au).
In a bid to contribute to these great initiatives Noosaville and Cooroy Libraries have invited beyondblue speaker Kev Stevenson to speak about his life, dealing with his struggles as a firefighter.
beyondblue is an independent, not-for-profit organisation working to increase awareness and understanding of anxiety and depression in Australia and to reduce the associated stigma.
Kev will be speaking about his experiences as part of RUOK Day at 1pm, Thursday 11 September at Noosaville Library and for World Mental Health Day at Cooroy Library on Friday 10 October at 10am.
