Noosa Community Program Grant round opens

Back

Noosa Council is opening a new round of Community Project and RADF grants.  Applications are invited from 15 August to 30 September, for projects happening between 1 January and 31 December next year.

The Noosa Council Community Project Grants are intended to help local not-for-profit incorporated organisations that need a contribution towards the funding of projects, building works and events that provide benefits to our community.

The Regional Arts Development Fund, supported by Arts Queensland, is designed to help cultural organisations and artists, in need of financial assistance, to continue their vital role in reflecting our past, present and future.

Council is looking for projects that contribute to the community's quality of life while improving our economy's diversity; protecting our biodiversity; increasing the understanding of our heritage; or increasing participation in local cultural, sports and recreational pursuits.

The Noosa Chorale was one of the 72 successful Noosa Council Community Project Grant recipients from the first round held earlier this year. The funding will help them present their 20th birthday concerts.

Noosa Chorale President John Davies is looking forward to the concerts on 18 and 19 October at The J, "which will now be better than ever thanks to the much needed financial help."

"We're working with an orchestra of some 60 musicians and four soloists, including Opera Queensland and former Ten Tenors' Andrew Pryor. When combined with 70 choir members and the music master, there will be 135 performers, which must be some sort of record for the J," he said.

This anniversary concert will present a smorgasbord of excerpts from the choir's Gala Concerts over the years, including the popular 4th movement of Beethoven's Choral Symphony and the Chorus of the Slaves from Verdi's Nabucco and a medley of Lennon-McCartney songs.

Tickets for the Noosa Chorale anniversary concert go on sale late in August from The J. Phone 5329 6560.

Noosa Council is holding three public workshops about the Community Project and RADF grants, first one is at 10am, 18th August at Noosa Council, the second at 5.30pm, 19th August at the Noosaville Library and the third workshop will be at 5.30pm on the 20th August at the Cooroy Butter Factory.
